Letter to Juniors
Dear New AGA and Lawler Junior Tour Golfers and Parents,
Welcome to the AGA Lawler Junior Tour. The AGA and its member clubs are proud to have you join the ranks of thousands of other young players who have chosen to compete in our golfing events over the past 28 years. Being new to AGA Junior Tour events can be a bit confusing as there are procedures with which you may be unfamiliar. Just to get you started, you will find information below regarding registration, age divisions, eligibility requirements, rules seminars, and our association's Junior Tournament of Champions.
Registration: Registration for the Lawler Junior Tour events may be made by completing an AGA Junior Tour Sign-up form that is contained on this website. Your registration will be acknowledged promptly, but be advised, you are not entered in an AGA tournament until your name appears on the event's starting times list on our website.
Pairings: AGA junior events are broken down into different groups based on age and gender. Division I play consists of players 15 – 18 years of age. Division II will host players 10 -14 years of age. Once again, our Junior golfers will receive free USGA GHIN Handicaps to all junior golfers.
Eligibility: AGA Junior events are open to young people residing in the following counties: Bradford, Carbon, Columbia, Clinton, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Sullivan, Snyder, Schuylkill, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne and Wyoming.
Seminars: The Anthracite Golf Association will also conduct rules and/or golf etiquitte seminars from time-to-time, prior to several of our junior events. It is mandatory to attend these scheduled events in order to participate in that day's tournament. . . .
Tournament of Champions: Our tour season concludes every year with the Tournament of Champions. This is an invitation only event, based on a performance evaluation. Players in Division I who have finished in the top five(5) in any junior event are eligible to compete in this two-day, thirty-six(36) hole event that determines the top player(s) for the season.
We understand there may be plenty of questions. Please take the time to look over our policies and feel free to call the AGA office with any concerns at (570) 383-4653. We will be happy to assist you in preparation for the upcoming tournament season and look forward to hearing from you!
