Michael Maslanka 3-under par captures AGA Lawler Junior Tour Title at Buck Hill Golf Club.
Buck Hill Fall, PA -  Michael Maslanka, Taylor, captured his second AGA Lawler Junior Tournament of the season with a spectacular 3-under par 33 on the par 36 Red Course at Buck Hill Golf Club. Coming in second was Joseph Rebarchik shot 37.  Kyle Langan, Thomas Mayernik, and Michael Hall all finished with 40 on the day, 7 shots behind the tournament champion (Maslanka).

Prior to the event PGA Professional Gary Clark and AGA Executive Director Patrick A. Lloyd conducted a rules and etiquette session for the junior golfers on the putting green.

In the girls divison Gwen Powell, Madison Twp. Captured the title with a score of 42. The 42 by Powell was good enough for a 3 shot victory over Dunmore's Ciera…

Moosic, PA –  Eric Williams of Honesdale Golf Club captured the 2017 Spring Stroke at Glenmaura National Golf Club with a great round of 3 under-par 69.  Finishing in second was Elmhurst Country Club’s Doug Nardella who carded a round of 73 on the day.  
 
For the second year in a row extra holes were needed to crown a senior division champion after Scranton Muni. Golf Club's Robin Bonda and the Country Club of Scranton's Mike Vassil each carded rounds of 2 over-par 73 in regulation.  Bonda prevailed on the first playoff hole with a par on the 18th hole to win the title.

Exeter, Pa. On a beautiful day at Fox Hill Country Club the team of C.J. Tyler and Austin Renz shot a 5-under par 66 in the final round of the John Moore Championship to capture the title. Frosty Valley's Tyler and Renz shot 67-67-66-200 to win the title by two shots. Finishing in second place were Elmhurst Country Club, and Temple University standout John Barone and Fox Hill Country Club's Tyler McGarry 67-68-67-202. Rounding out the top spots were Fox Hill Country Club's John Mikiewicz and Wyoming Valley Country Club's Tom Biscotti who shot 70-68-67-205.

In the Senior Division Scranton Muni's Bob Andrejko and Robin Bonda shot 69 in the final round  to move up to capture the senior title with a 72-68-69-209 total.…

The Anthracite Golf Association, now in its 67th season promoting golf 
in Pennsylvania, is celebrating its 32nd year of awarding scholarships
to deserving young golfers.  
 
This year's recipients were recently honored at a reception at 
Glenmaura National Golf Club. 
 
Since the AGA Scholarship program began in 1986 Over $185,000 has 
been awarded to over 150 student athletes.

Mike Bonavoglia and Eamon Evans card 65 to win 2017 AGA Ben Marshall Fourball Tournament.
Hanover, PA - On Monday, May 1st, at Wyoming Valley Country Club, Elmhust Country Club's Mike Bonavoglia teamed up with Glenmaura National Golf Club's Eamon Evans to capture the 2017 Anthracite Golf Association Ben Marshall Spring Fourball.  Bonavoglia and Evans carded a round of 6-under par 65 to win the overall title.
 
The father son team of Irv and Eric Williams, Honesdale Golf Club, finished in second with a round of 66. 
 
In the senior division the team of John Tolerico and John Zavada of Elkview Country Club won on a match-of-cards with a roun of 34-33-67.  Marty Behm and Art Brunn Jr. of the host Wyoming Valley Club finished in second (67).

Frank Kacvinsky & Ken Sames combine to capture 2017 AGA Modified Stableford Title
Shavertown, PA – Wednesday, April 19th at Hunstville Golf Club, the 2017 Anthracite Golf Association tournament season got underway with 100 golfers competed in the annual AGA Stableford Tournament. The event consisted of two divisions: Open and Senior. Winners were determined by points awarded on each hole for bogeys (1point) pars (2 points), birdies (4 points) and eagles (6 points).
 
Elhurst Country Club's Frank Kacvinsky and Ken Sames (48pts) teamed up to edge out Wyoming Valley Country Club's Art Brun Jr. and Joe Weiscarger (48pts) on a match-of-cards to win Open Division title.  Kacvinsky and Sames combined for 7 birdies, 2 bogeys, and 9 pars on the day.
 
In the Senior Division Scranton Muni's Bob Andrejko and Chris “Skeeter” Mathewson combined to capture the title.…

AGA Announces USGA  Golf Genius TM Software Seminar.
The AGA is pleased to announce , the United States Golf Association has entered into a partnership with Golf Genius making its Tournament Management software available to all Anthracite Golf Association Member clubs.

The software program will offer clubs and leagues enhanced cloud-based event and league management tools.
AGA Member Clubs interested in access to the new program will be required to attend a training seminar. The Golf Genius TM software is scheduled to replace the current USGA TPP sofware for 2018, so we encourage all clubs to send representatives to the seminar.  The seminar is for free-of-charge and is designed for course managers, golf professionals, and league presidents at all AGA member clubs.

Moscow,  Pa - The 2016 Anthracite Golf Association season officially came to a close on Sunday at Elmhurst Country Club with the year-end Challenge Cup and Player of the Year presentations.
 
The Anthracite Golf Association annual Challenge Cup, is a match-play event comprised of two teams chosen based on the final standings of the Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year point charts. Player of the Year points are awarded based upon top finishes for all AGA events.
 
Following the Challenge Cup, Anthracite Golf Association Executive Director Patrick A. Lloyd (pictured above) awarded the 2016 AGA Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year trophies.

Peckville, Pa – The Anthracite Golf Association has announced the players for the 2016 Challenge Cup, which will take place on Sunday, October 30th, at Elmhurst Country Club.
 
The annual invitational Challenge Cup is comprised of two teams chosen based on the final standings of the Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year point charts. Player of the Year points are awarded based upon top finishes for all AGA events. The two teams will compete head-to-head in a modified “Ryder Cup” format. The club champion and senior club champion of the host club are also included in this years event.

Wyoming Valley Country Club captures 2016 AGA Coal Scuttle Championship

Hanover, PA - Wyoming Valley Country Club captured the 66th Anthracite Golf Association Coal Scuttle Championship today. The defending champions were trailing Scranton Muni. GC (293) and Glenmaura National GC (293) after round 1 at ElmhurstCountry Club by 7 shots (300). The team followed their opening round to combine for a 290 in round 2 at their home course of Wyoming Valley Country Club.  The two day total of 590 was good enough to take the title by 4 shots.

Scranton Muni. Golf Club (594) finished in second and Elmhurst Country Club (610) finished in third.
