Moscow,  Pa - The 2016 Anthracite Golf Association season officially came to a close on Sunday at Elmhurst Country Club with the year-end Challenge Cup and Player of the Year presentations.
 
The Anthracite Golf Association annual Challenge Cup, is a match-play event comprised of two teams chosen based on the final standings of the Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year point charts. Player of the Year points are awarded based upon top finishes for all AGA events.
 
Following the Challenge Cup, Anthracite Golf Association Executive Director Patrick A. Lloyd (pictured above) awarded the 2016 AGA Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year trophies.

Peckville, Pa – The Anthracite Golf Association has announced the players for the 2016 Challenge Cup, which will take place on Sunday, October 30th, at Elmhurst Country Club.
 
The annual invitational Challenge Cup is comprised of two teams chosen based on the final standings of the Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year point charts. Player of the Year points are awarded based upon top finishes for all AGA events. The two teams will compete head-to-head in a modified “Ryder Cup” format. The club champion and senior club champion of the host club are also included in this years event.

Wyoming Valley Country Club captures 2016 AGA Coal Scuttle Championship

Hanover, PA - Wyoming Valley Country Club captured the 66th Anthracite Golf Association Coal Scuttle Championship today. The defending champions were trailing Scranton Muni. GC (293) and Glenmaura National GC (293) after round 1 at ElmhurstCountry Club by 7 shots (300). The team followed their opening round to combine for a 290 in round 2 at their home course of Wyoming Valley Country Club.  The two day total of 590 was good enough to take the title by 4 shots.

Scranton Muni. Golf Club (594) finished in second and Elmhurst Country Club (610) finished in third.

Dallas, PA - On Friday, September 16th, at Irem Country Club, Art Brunn Jr. of Wyoming Valley Country Club made his senior debut in AGA Montgomery Fall Fourball.  Brunn Jr. who recently turned 50 teamed up with Fox Hill Country Club's Ed Hennigan to combine for 9 birdies, which included a run of 6 in-a-row for a score of 33-31-64 to capture the overall title in the event.

Exeter, PA - On Wednesday, August 31st Fox Hill Country Club successfully defended its Anthracite Golf Association Super Senior Coal Scuttle title.  Fox Hill Country Club carded a round of 223 to capture the team title.  

The format was 4 players 65+, counting 3 scores.  Leading the way for the champions was Bill Lawler who  finished with rounds of 1-over par 73.   Ed Hennigan and Jim Devers carded rounds of 75, and rounding out the team for the champions was Dan Pavlico (80).

Elkview Country Club wins 2016 AGA Senior Coal Scuttle


Crystal Lake, PA - On Wednesday August 24th at Elkview Country Club, the host and defending champion, captured the 2016 Anthracite Golf Association Senior Coal Scuttle Championship.  The team from Elkview Country Club combinded for a 296 and a five shot victory over Wyoming Valley Country Club (301) who finished second.  The Country Club of Scranton finished in third place with a team total of 308.
 
Leading the way for the team champions, Elkview Country Club, was Ken Bolcavage who carded a round of 1-under par 71. The other scores for the winning team were Joe Klickus (74), Matt Froncek (75), Mike Heck (76) and Ken Nesor (78).

Clarks Summit, PA - Friday, August 12th the Anthracite Golf Association conducted it's first Junior Fourball Invitational Tournament.  The event showcased some of the top players in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New Yorks Southern Tier at host Country Club of Scranton.

This years event was captured by players representing the Golf Association of Philadelphia, Ron Robinson and Marty McGuckin combined for a 31-37-68.  The 4-under par total was good earned the GAP duo a chance to particpate in a playoff for the title as the AGA team of Troy Kelleher & Luke Fayocavitz, and NCPGA's Tanner Adriance & Vincent Bender also carded rounds of 68 in regulation.

Crystal Lake, PA -  Hunstville Golf Club captured the 2016 Anthracite Golf Association Women's Coal Scuttle Champions by one-shot over host and defending champion Elkview Country Club.   Hunstville Golf Club was led by captain Barb Pagana who shot a 79.  Dannielle Dalessandro and Kath Goeringer each carded rounds of 82 to complete the team score of 243.  Rounding out the team from Huntsville Golf Club was Kasey Corbett.
 
The second place finish for Elkview Country Club (244) ends a four year title run by the club.   Finishing in third place was Elmhurst Country Club (271).  Glen Oak Country Club (272) and Irem Country Club (274) rounded out the top spots.

Shavertown, PA - Sebasitan Cimoch of Forest City captured the 2016 Association Junior Tournament of Champions. Cimoch fired an opening round 74 at Fox Hill Country Club to find himself 1 shot back of Shane Angle who was the leader after day 1.

In the second round at Huntsville Golf Club Cimoch played steady golf on a dificult layout and shot 80 in regulation forcing a playoff with Hawley's Alex Pillar who went 78-76 leaving both players tied at 154 after regulation.  

On the first hole of sudden Sebastian Cimoch bested Alex Pillar earning the title and  etching his name on the Art Wall Jr. Trophy.

Logan Paczewski fires 69 and continues to dominate on AGA Lawler Junior Tour



Moscow, PA – Logan Paczewski continued his winning ways this week on the 2016 AGA Lawler Junior Tour with a round of 3-under par 69 to win the boys title at Elmhurst Country Club. Logan, the youngest player on the division I tour at 13 years of age, has won 4 of the 5 events thus far with only one event emaining next week at Elkview Country Club.

Logan appears to be the favorite heading into the AGA Lawler Tournament of Champions in two weeks.
